Have you ever thought of planting a tropical garden in Melbourne? Don Burke did, and when Don decided to film such a makeover he called on Jim to design and collaborate with him on plant selection.
The perfect location was found in an eastern Melbourne suburb, the home of balinese native Kari Tusan and his family. Kari has lived in Melbourne now for 10 years with his Australian wife, Sarah and their three young children. Kari has always wanted a garden that reflected his homeland, and had even constructed his own authentic pavilion. However one thing that Kari lacked was a lush tropical garden setting. His wish was granted when Don set out to achieve this.
In one afternoon, Don and his crew, along with Jim, constructed this tropical garden using plants that will cope with Melbourne's climate. Filmed for Burkes Backyard on Ch 9, the segment went to air on Friday October 22nd 2004.
