'City Living'
This
show garden shows how CSR-PGH products can achieve a modern
look in an inner city garden space. Drawing from the earthy
colours of Australia, this garden blends exotic plants
and foliage colour to demonstrate our own unique tastes of design
and lifestyle.
Three
sides of the garden are framed by rendered Hebel Block walls, with the front of the garden open to viewing. A
black timber pergola and chocolate brick pillar avenue add a
vista to the right of the garden. Windows in the right
side perimeter wall open up to the lush foliage of an external
planter box of Magnolia "little Gems," adding
some depth to an otherwise confined space.
A single mature tree provides the upper canopy and dappled shade
to the garden. Hand chosen from country Victoria, the Golden
foliage of the Gleditsia sp. provides a striking colour contrast
to the earthy rendered wall colours and the mainly green and burgundy foliage colours
in the shrubbery.
The
back wall provides another feature. The "Dolphins"
steel wall sculpture, designed by Jim and made in Melbourne
especially for this garden, marry in with the fabricated furniture
as well as the steel pots. The pots vary in height, creating
a vertical swale inspired by the white curves of the retaining
wall beds extending forward from the back wall to the left of the garden.
The
centrepiece of the garden is the water feature. Providing sound
and movement, the sheet of water cascades from the white rock
face retaining wall into a void in the garden bed below…. all lit up for night time too!
A simple, but dramatic city living garden, showcasing
CSR-PGH product in a modern setting.
