When these style savvy clients asked Jim to design their back garden and gave him an open brief, Jim jumped at the chance to design a garden that was a one off memorable showpiece garden.
Using strong curvaceous shapes as the basis for the layout, Jim created a garden that was not only visually appealing at ground level, but also when viewed from above; a modern twist to the old style Knot Garden.
Integrating many earthy materials such as natural stone, pebble and recycled timber, this garden is to be enjoyed by adults as well as children. Space was allocated for a lawn area as well as a cubby house.
Large concrete pylons break the level change from ground to the upper level of the pool. Colour schemes aim to bring the pool into the garden rather then leave it floating on its own.
The planting scheme was designed to be the major standout of this garden. Using a mix of exotic species and natives, the garden beds are all dry tolerant and feature the hot flower colours of Proteas and Red Hot Pokers.
This was one of Jim's favourite designs and to this day, Jim still gets a huge buzz watching this garden grow and develop into the garden it was perceived to be.
