Show Gardens

To commemorate 65 years since the atomic bomb was dropped on the city of Nagasaki, ten of the worlds top garden designers were brought together to create a garden show inspired by world peace. The Show was given the name The Gardening World Cup. Designers represented countries including Japan, USA, UK, Australia, New Zealand, France, Holland and Canada

The idea of the show was to use gardening as a medium to bring countries together to unite in peace. As part of the formalities, designers laid a wreath at the site of the bomb epicenter, which is now the Nagasaki Peace Park. A stone monument now stands about 100m to the South West of the site of the epicenter. On this monument, an individual plaque has a peace message written by each of the international designers.
