International Flower & Garden Show 2000 - Asian Influence
Jim wanted to demonstrate a way of approaching a small back garden (6m x 6m) and how this space could become another room to the house; a garden room, which compliments the interior of the house. With careful, considered design, a small space can not only provide a visual feast but it can also be a functional garden.
In this case retaining beds were built with capping that doubles as extra seating for entertaining. The formal pond provides the essential focal point the main feature being the modern "Vessels" fountain. Foliage plants give year round interest to the garden, whilst the Pompeii Ash Tuscan Effect paint provides a modern backdrop to the vibrant colours of the leaves.
Garden furniture is paramount in creating the interior/ exterior effect. In this case contemporary Romanesque furniture with the latest in exterior fabrics provides a casual approach to outdoor eating, demonstrating that there is more to garden gastronomy than BBQ’s and director’s chairs.
