Jim’s design work has taken him to many regions of the world and he constantly takes pictures of plants and objects in the natural landscape that provide inspiration. Jim uses his photos for articles in printed media, books and for his own design inspiration. Click here to view more examples.

Jim wins the 2008 Joy Harland Memorial Photographic Competition. This competition is run by the Horticultural Media Association of Australia. Jim won with this spectacular picture at left. The judge said "A bold, happy image with good central interest and full of appeal. Strong, well balanced composition, pleasing use of focus and blurred background. A straightforward shot superbly executed. Definite cover material."

In 2004, Jim Fogarty made history as not only the first Australian Show Garden Designer to be accepted to exhibit at the prestigious Chelsea Flower Show but as the first ever Designer of an Australian Show Garden to win an award, the Silver Gilt Flora Show Garden Award. This book recounts the amazing year of planning, frustration, hard work and triumph involved.
