This young family with four children wanted to transform their small back garden into a family area with a swimming pool and entertainment space. A bar area with cooking facilities, and a covered sunken lounge area at the back of the garden are enclosed by louvered screens which gives the garden a tropical feel and blends well with the white weatherboards on the house. Lighting transforms the garden at night. Custom-made steel planters are filled with succulents and help make the pool wall a feature. The deck is recycled timber and houses a water bladder. Rainwater collected from the entertainment area roof is collected into the bladder for irrigating the garden and topping up the pool. Project completed 2008.
