English Garden

Although on a large block these clients were not able to enjoy the space they should have due to a large messy embankment along the back of the house.

A large cut was made with an excavator, enabling retaining walls, a formal pond and two flights of steps to be built. The existing split level paving was replaced with sandstone paving on one level making the area larger and usable for entertaining. A BBQ was built into the retaining wall.

The formal pond provides the focal point from the central dining room. A small arbour was built and surrounded by a rose garden to mirror the large existing pergola along the back of the house. Around to left of the paving a large informal lawn was installed, surrounded by flowering perennials and trees.

A classically English garden, which suits the Tudor style house and the large existing hedges, and a garden the clients can finally make use of and be proud of. Before: Formal Garden Area on the left, Escavations on the right
