One of Jim's biggest projects to date, this four acre garden has 12 different areas, including an Aromatherapy Garden, a Winter Garden, a formal lawn area, a Rainforest and a Rose Garden. One of my favourite areas is the Aromatherapy Garden which features Chamomile, Mint, Pineapple Sage and Lavender planted underneath spring flowering blossom trees. The great feature of this garden is the herbs planted amongst the paved areas which give the garden a bit of a romantic overgrown feel.
The Rose Garden features a long steel Rose arbour installed by Gardens of Steel. A steel bench overlooks the adjacent rose garden and lake view beyond. Stone terracing takes you down to the lake which is inhabited by several ducks and wild birds.
The Winter Garden includes many plants known for their winter interest. Plants such as Acer Sango Kaku, the yellow stems of Cornus sp, native sarspirilla and a variety of ornamental grasses will all provide a standout part of the garden during a normally drab Winter.
The tennis court area includes a stone amphitheatre for watching tennis and cooling down in the shade of a Honey Locust.
A work in progress, this is the result of a great working relationship between Jim and the clients and is a garden that Jim hopes to be a legacy.
